Salt dough Christmas Ornaments

It’s really easy and fun to do, so I’ll show you how to make Salt Dough Christmas Ornaments in 5 easy steps!

Task 1: Gather your supplies

You will need:

  • 4 cups flour
  • wooden spoon
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 straw ( optional )
  • 1 ribbon ( optional )
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • plastic bag
  • parchment paper
  • rolling pin
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • red paint
  • black paint
  • white paint
  • green paint
  • baby blue paint
  • pink paint
  • orange paint
  • paint brush
  • cup full of water ( for rinsing the brush )

Task 2: Mix…

Mix your flour, salt and water together in your mixing bowl… then store in a plastic bag in your fridge for 15 – 30 mins or so.

Task 3: Place…

Place a fist-sized ball of dough onto a sheet of parchment paper and cover with another sheet of parchment paper. Use your rolling pin to roll the dough into a circular shape big enough for your hand and press your hand into it. Do the same for the foot.

Task 4: Using a drinking straw…

Using a drinking straw, poke a hole above the top of each print ( but still on the dough ) and bake your prints on parchment paper for 2 – 3 hours in a 275F oven or until dough is hard but NOT GOLDEN OR BROWN IN ANY WAY! Let cool.

With your paint, turn the foot into a snowman and the hand into a Santa! Get creative! Once done, thread ribbon through the hole and hang in your house.
