Lace Front wigs are very popular and are part of an ever-growing trend! Many retailers now sell “one-size fits all” lace wigs that are available in human and synthetic hair. Due its affordability, the synthetic lace wig seems to be the unit of choice when changing styles.
Did you know that you can customize your synthetic lace front as well as create a natural-looking part?
This Instructable will give you a quick tutorial on how to create a natural part on your synthetic lace wig to give it a customized look!
If you have created this look yourself, feel free to post your pictures! I’d love to view them!
What you will need to begin:
- Synthetic Wig
- Alligator Clips
- Protective Shield (Transparent/Clear)
- Foundation or Concealer
- Wedge Make-up Applicator Sponge
- Hair Weaving Needle and Thread
- Small Angled Make-up Brush
Task 1: Braid Your Hair
Decide where you would like to place your part and braid your hair accordingly. I chose a side part for this tutorial.
Task 2: Determine the Location of Your Wig Part
Get your wig and decide where you want to place your part. Once it has been determined, carefully pluck away the strands of hair within the part to give it a clean look. Finish by trimming the lace around the hairline.
Task 3: Place Wig On Head for Accuracy
Place the wig on your head again to make sure the part is in the correct position. Pluck more hair away from the part if necessary.
Task 4: Apply Foundation or Concealer
Flip your wig inside out and lightly apply concealer or foundation to the parted area. I used a handy wedge foundation applicator sponge.
Task 5: Apply the Foundation or Concealer Thoroughly
Apply the concealer or foundation throughout the part and down towards the hairline.

Task 6: Attach the Wig to Your Braided Hair
Attach the wig to your braids. Make sure that the wig is secure and does not move. The part should lie flat against your scalp. If the wig fits too tightly, be sure to modify your wig cap before attaching it to your braids.
How to modify your wig cap:
Task 7: Comb Hair Away from the Part
Comb all hair away from the parted area.
Task 8: Clip Down the Parted Hair
Clip down the parted hair. There should be no loose fly-away strands visible in the parted area.
Task 9: Apply Protective Shield
Use the clear/transparent Protective Shield. The Protective Shield will blend with your foundation/concealer and give an scalp-like appearance to the parted area.
Task 10: Be Sure to Fill in Holes
Fill in the holes and apply down to the hairline.

Task 11: Apply Protective Shield to Skin
A light coating should be applied to your skin right at the hairline so there is no line of demarcation.
Task 12: Allow to Dry Completely
Task 13: Apply More Solution If Necessary
Be sure that there are no holes visible in the parted area.
Task 14: Continue to Dry the Parted Area
Task 15: Style Your Hair
Style your hair to achieve the desired look.
